Quality assurance and testing specialist Eurofins Digital Testing will serve as the exclusive test partner for the CI Plus 2.0 standard, an enhanced security system allowing manufacturers, operators and broadcasters to deliver secure content on digital TV receivers, via Common Interface (CI) and Conditional Access Module (CAM) specifications.
Eurofins will provide automated testing tools and certification for devices and services based on the CI Plus 2.0 standard, a specification that includes a USB-form factor, giving consumers the ability to receive pay TV services by leveraging USB-based CAMs.
“We are proud to be the exclusive CI Plus LLP approved test partner and look forward to providing a new test tool for CI Plus 2.0,” said Johan Craeybeckx, business line director for Eurofins Digital Testing International. “The CI Plus 2.0 USB interface provides an easy-to-use, familiar form factor for consumers, manufacturers and operators alike. Leveraging Eurofins’ automated test tools for the required testing of USB hosts and compatible-devices will streamline build processes and greatly reduce time to market.”
Eurofins is currently the test partner for CI Plus 1.4, and for CI Plus 2.0, will enable pre-testing of devices in advance of certification. The standard is backed by Sony, Samsung, TP Vision, Panasonic, Neotion and SMiT.
“CI Plus is committed to providing consumers with easy access to secure, premium content on their TVs, and CI Plus 2.0 makes that even easier with its USB interface support,” CI Plus LLP said in a statement. “Based on our existing relationship, we’re confident Eurofins will help ensure a certified testing regime is easily accessible and take CI Plus 2.0 forward to market launch.”
Eurofins Digital Testing also operates a certified test lab for USB technologies, offering extended testing and certification services for USB products, in order to identify compatibility, functionality and interoperability.
