LAS VEGAS — Everyone, every business in every industry that hosts data in the cloud is at risk of having their data compromised if there’s a mistake. And the media and entertainment industry has proven especially threatened in this area, according to Joel Sloss, senior program manager for Microsoft Azure.
“Media has come under the same, if not greater threat [with cloud security] than the financial industry, health care, governments,” he said April, speaking during the Cyber Security & Content Protection Summit at the NAB Show.
And a common theme in the major mistakes that befall companies with their cloud security is this: “A lot of it can be pinned on how prepared people are,” Sloss said.
He stressed that with content workflows using the cloud, security is paramount. For Azure’s products, studios and broadcasters, artists and editors, all count on a secure platform, taking any security concern out of the equation, he added.
The half-day, inaugural Cyber Security & Content Protection Summit provided technology and business updates on cybersecurity and anti-piracy initiatives in both film and television. It was produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) and the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), in cooperation with the NAB.
