Three Keynotes Announced for April 7 NAB Cybersecurity & Content Protection Summit

Media and entertainment has become a popular target for hackers and other bad-attackers eager to disrupt the creation, production and distribution of entertainment and information around the globe. Broadcasts have been interrupted. Streams have been diverted. Productions have been hacked. And viewer privacy has been compromised.

To help attendees better understand the state of cybersecurity in M&E, as well as distribute proven solutions to common threats, the NAB Show, and the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) are co-producing the second-annual Cybersecurity & Content Protection Summit on April 7 at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas.

“This year’s CDSA Cybersecurity & Content Protection Summit program at NAB will place increased emphasis on the role that the technology providers play in securing workflows, content distribution and the viewer experience,” said CDSA executive director Guy Finley. “Movies and television are vital forms of public communications and data collection that, if attacked, can impact public awareness, opinion and privacy. And with a growing industry move toward digital infrastructure, these threats continue to scale.”

A total of three cybersecurity experts will be delivering keynotes at the event, including retired Rear Adm. David Simpson, U.S. Navy, and former chief of the Federal Communication Commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (“Securing the Future of Media & Entertainment”); Nonny de la Peña, founder and CEO of Emblematic Group and an award-winning filmmaker and Journalist (“Is that Real? The Threat & Opportunity of Deep Fakes?”); and Clete Johnson, senior fellow at the Center for Strategic International Studies, (CSIS) and partner with Wilkinson Barker Knauer (“Is the Media & Entertainment Industry Critical Infrastructure?”).

Speakers from the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA), HBO, the Digital Production Partnership (DPP), the North American Broadcasters’ Association (NABA), Screeners.com/SHIFT, the Streaming Video Alliance, Three Zebra Productions, and more will also be on hand.

The program will also feature a Special Workshop from the Trusted Partner Network (TPN), a joint venture between the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) and CDSA, which was launched at last year’s NAB Show. In 2019, TPN will be announcing its newest industrywide security initiative, which is designed to secure essential workflow technologies including applications and the cloud.

The CDSA Content Protection & Cybersecurity Summit is presented by SafeStream by SHIFT, Akamai, the Trusted Partner Network, Convergent Risks and Media Science International, and produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) and the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), in cooperation with the NAB Show.
