Piracy, Cybersecurity Efforts Highlighted at HITS Spring

The annual HITS Spring: The Hollywood Innovation & Technology Summit returns to Los Angeles on May 17, and an afternoon pair of breakout sessions will look at the latest in cybersecurity and piracy for the industry.

At 4 p.m., during the “Cloud, Compliance & Security” tracks of presentation, Doug Lhotka, CISSP-ISSAP, and executive cybersecurity architect for IBM Security, will share how cyberthreats should no longer be treated as special cases. Despite escalating, industrialized threats, companies continue to simply react from one crisis to another, and cobble together security responses based on what’s happened.

Instead, he’ll show how companies can benefit from applying a business focused, risk-based approach to cybersecurity, in the presentation “Chicken Little has Left the Room – Moving Your CyberSecurity Program Beyond Fear and Compliance to Focus on Business Risk.”

At 4:30 p.m., in the presentation “A Recording Engineer, a Producer, and a Sound Designer walk into a bar …,” a panel including a multi-platinum songwriter and producer, an Emmy award-winning film sound designer, a Grammy award-winning sound engineer, and a digital innovator experts will look share their ideas on keeping creative content secure in today’s fast-paced and demanding production environment. They’ll share the challenges presented by post-production workflows, and how to balance productive collaboration with safety. Steve Curd, president and CEO of Scaeva Technologies, will moderate a panel with Andrew Bojanic, owner of Emerald City Studios, Cameron Frankley, CEO of NumberNine Productions, and Krish Sharma, CEO of BYGMusic.

HITS Spring expects to see several hundred senior studio technology leaders gathering for the 9th annual “reality check” on the key trends transforming the way content is being produced, distributed and consumed.
