HITS Fall: Google Cloud, Mediamorph, Expert System to Offer Supply Chain Perspectives

Supply chain experts from Google Cloud, Mediamorph and Expert System are set to offer their takes on the latest trends media and entertainment companies need to watch for, Oct. 4 at the Hollywood Innovation & Technology Summit (HITS) Fall event in Los Angeles.

Todd Prives, product manager for Google Cloud, Thomas Stilling, head of product for Mediamorph, and Ian Cameron, VP of digital media for Expert System, will take part in an afternoon HITS Fall session track, one of two presented by the Entertainment Supply Chain Academy (ESCA), kicking off at 4 p.m.

Here’s a look at what attendees can expect:

• For “Post Production Pipelines on Google Cloud,” Prives, product manager for Google Cloud, will offer an overview of the core components of his company’s platform, covering computing, GPU, storage and networking, that comprise VFX workloads. He’ll walk attendees through what VFX vendors such as Foundry (Athera) and Chaos Group (VRay Cloud) have built to run on the platform.

• Stilling, head of product for Mediamorph, will share how to cater to today’s connected consumer by focusing on the data, in the presentation “A Hollywood Thriller: The Data Journey to Today’s Consumer.” Stilling will look at the key fundamentals and elements of a successful data journey for the business of content with anecdotes around workflows, and the potential for automation.

• In “Give Your Ontology The Cognitive Diet It Deserves,” Cameron, VP of digital media for Expert System, will tackle the taxonomy and ontology needs of today’s high-performance applications, and how cognitive technology (specifically natural language processing) harvests the instances of object classes and relationships that occur in content, capturing the knowledge that makes (and keeps) ontologies healthy.

In total more than 1,000 senior studio executives and their technology partners attended last year’s HITS Fall, making it the largest industry conference of the season in Los Angeles. HITS Fall will also host membership meetings and technology briefings for both the Trusted Partner Network (TPN) and Entertainment ID Registry (EIDR).

HITS Fall is sponsored by Amazon Web Services, Box, Microsoft Azure, Ooyala, TiVo, Cognizant, DXC Technology, Gracenote, LiveTiles, ThinkAnalytics, Wasabi, Aspera, EIDR, MicroStrategy, the Trusted Partner Network, human-I-T, Zaszou IT Consulting, OnPrem Solution Partners, and Bob Gold & Associates, and is produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA), in association with the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), the Hollywood IT Society (HITS), the Smart Content Council and Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH).
