Wasabi, MSP360 Can Turn Down the Heat From Cyber Attacks

Complicated IT processes for an organization’s backup and storage solutions have become a relic of the past because now, for one thing, companies can streamline their internal IT processes using Wasabi and MSP360 ‘s cross-platform backup and disaster recovery, according to the companies.

When these two solutions are combined, organizations can take advantage of powerful data protection, secure remote access and simplified IT management in a unified platform – all while ensuring data is stored in the hottest cloud storage, marketing experts from the two companies said July 25, during the webinar “Cyber Attacks Are Heating Up, Let Wasabi and MSP360 Turn Down The Heat.”

They provided viewers with the ability to see the benefits of a simplified, cost-effective and, most importantly, secure backup solution for organizations’ datacenters.

Viewers also learned: how Wasabi and MSP360 are the ideal backup solution for IT teams, how companies can keep backup and storage costs down for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)-based management, and how organizations can ensure high-quality data security for all their valuable and critical data.

The focus of the discussion was what Rob Callaghan, senior product marketing manager at Wasabi, told viewers is a “key topic that everybody thinks about, probably in their nightmares …  ransomware, and we’re going to talk about solutions to help you combat that effectively.”

Another subject on the agenda was immutable cloud storage, he said, noting: “We’re going to talk about IT management simplified and how you can do that with their technology. And then, our partnership leveraging cloud object scale storage for your backups to build, protect them and be cost effective in the process.”

Wasabi enables organizations to “store and instantly access an unlimited amount of data [at] about a fifth of the price of the competition,“ he said, adding: “We cover many verticals including backup, archive, surveillance, scientific research, healthcare, law enforcement and cool sports teams, as well as media and entertainment. Wasabi is thrilled to partner with MSP360 to help our mutual customers secure their data and mitigate the threat of ransomware.” One key advantage of Wasabi’s solution is the “lack of egress” and application programming interface (API) fees, which he pointed out “can be very expensive,” with its high-performance storage, data durability and cloud scale capacity.

He was quick to add: “As I like to say … we’re talking about ransomware and we don’t want you to be ransomed by other solutions.” Wasabi and MSP360 “help you free your storage,” he said.

“But enough about that,” he said. “Today, we’re here to talk about our partnership. MSP360 is best-in-class IT management platform” for managed service providers (MSPs) and internal IT teams. It was developed to protect your valuable data and your endpoints for the most advanced ransomware threats. And the best way to protect the ransomware is to have a copy or several copies of your data in the cloud.”

He added: “Enabled with object lock for immutability, Wasabi … and high- performance cloud storage help you do that. With our immutable buckets and S3 Object Lock support, we can help you fight back and ensure your data security integrity so that if you do need to pull it back, you know that that copy is secure. And we keep adding new features to even allow you to further protect with security being able to protect the actual accounts themselves to have multiple users required to do any changes to accounts.”

Ransomware remains “very pervasive and [is] having an impact,” he said, pointing to recent data showing 79% of companies have experienced some type of ransomware attack in the past year “but only 29 percent of those companies have … a disaster plan. You don’t want to be one of those [companies] that, all of a sudden, try to think, “What are you going to do when it happens?” You need to prepare and we’re here to give you tools to help you do that.”

Additionally, he noted: “The average ransomware attacker demanded an average of $1.5 million. That’s just crazy. And over 80 percent of the companies who pay that ransom will be attacked again.”

He’s also heard stories where an attack will come and those responsible will say, “If you don’t fix that in the next 60 days, we’re going to come back and get you again,” he pointed out. Yet only 43% of large businesses consider ransom protection a top three investment priority. I personally think it should be higher but that’s where it is.”

Kurt Abrahams, CMO of MSP360, also spoke during the webinar.
