NAGRA Announces Another Deal: CineSend Taps Firm to Protect Streaming Content

Leading into the IBC event in Amsterdam, Tim Pearson, VP of global solution marketing for NAGRA, hinted that news from the content protection and multiscreen TV solutions firm was could fast and heavy, before and during the show.

He wasn’t kidding: first, Harmonic and NAGRA announced Watermarking as a Service for live sports streaming, integrating NexGuard forensic watermarking with Harmonic’s VOS 360 cloud SaaS platform. Then, United Cloud, a product developer for telco and media businesses, announced it would deploy NexGuard watermarking across all OTT content, in order to quickly pinpoint piracy leaks.

Now, NexGuard forensic watermarking is being picked up by CineSend, which offers streaming video solutions for high-security media applications, including CineSend OTT, a white-label streaming platform widely used in the industry to host online screening events, virtual festivals, and D2C offerings.

“We have lots more to come at IBC,” Pearson said.

The integration of NexGuard enables user-specific forensic watermarks wherever video is consumed, across the web, mobile, and native TV apps for AppleTV, Roku, FireTV, AndroidTV, and Tizen. The server-side forensic watermarking technology will enable CineSend to increase the security of its streaming offerings through unique watermarks for each stream of content.

“To ensure the protection of our customer’s content, we required a partner who not only understood our business but also had a strong track record as a trusted market leader in this space,” said Colin Carter, founder and CEO of CineSend. “NAGRA met that need, immediately understanding the challenges we faced and knowing what was required to solve those challenges.”

Ken Gerstein, VP of sales for NAGRA, added: “As the industry leader by market share, NAGRA is continuing its work as the trusted and preferred partner for forensic watermarking and anti-piracy services. Protecting our customer’s valuable content is a responsibility we invest in and take extremely seriously, and we’re delighted to support CineSend as they distribute content for major studios and film festivals worldwide, to audiences of millions.”

Meet with NAGRA at IBC Sept. 9-12 in Hall 1 at Stand C81.
