Irdeto Talks Securing AI at May 12 HITS Spring

At the May 12 Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event, Will Hickie, data science architect for Irdeto, will tout the wonders of artificial intelligence and all its applications.

He’ll always warn us that we’re not doing nearly enough to secure AI, and that its algorithms can be stolen and leveraged for nefarious purposes.

His presentation — “Securing Artificial Intelligence” — will look at how AI is being used across a wide variety of industries to automate human capabilities and streamline workflows, increase productivity and efficiencies, lower costs, and solve complex problems, but from suggestions from Siri, to smart cars, to asset creation for films or games, to box office prediction models, the applications of AI aren’t being protected nearly enough.

“In this presentation we will explore how advancements in AI and machine learning are both tools for good and bad actors alike,” Hickie said. “AI models are expensive and time-consuming to build, and as such are extremely valuable intellectual property to protect. Just as we protect or data and computer networks from hacking, securing AI solutions is critical to prevent misuse or interference.”

Hickie will share current developments in securing AI from existing attacks (including data poisoning, network copying/cloning, privacy issues etc.) such as model obfuscation, watermarking and incremental learning.

HITS Spring is programmed under the guidance of the content advisors of the Hollywood IT Society, and is produced by MESA and the Hollywood IT Society (HITS), in association with the
Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) and the Smart Content Council.

The event is presented by IBM Security with sponsorship by Genpact, Irdeto, Tata Consultancy Services, Convergent Risks, Equinix, MicroStrategy, Microsoft Azure, PacketFabric, Richey May Technology Solutions, Tamr, Whip Media, Eluvio, 5th Kind, LucidLink, Salesforce, Signiant, Zendesk, EIDR and the Trusted Partner Network.
