Convergent Risks to Share Incident Response Insights at May 12 HITS Event

The pandemic has created an unprecedented spike in cyber-related incidents, with 2020 being reported as “the worse year on record by the end of Q2,” according to a recent Risk Based Security report.

That means your incident response game plan better be ready for anything, according to Chris Johnson, CEO and president of Convergent Risks.

On May 12 at the annual Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event, he and Mathew Gilliat-Smith, EVP of Convergent Risks, will take the stage to share how their incident response app works, kick-starting the response to any breach, and managing communications to staff and external stakeholders.

“While we come to grips with the challenges this brings when in the midst of securing newly implemented SaaS application and cloud-based workflows, security incidents will continue to occur, potentially increasing in cadence and impact,” Johnson said. “Human error is often a focal point when remediating security breaches so it perhaps follows that the way in which we respond as resources should attract equal attention.”

“With startling statistics constantly being presented, testing and exercising our response, recovery and continuity is as crucial as any other function we perform to mitigate our risks.”

Their presentation — “Don’t Let a Crisis Spoil Your Drama – Experience an Incident Response App at Work” — will offer insight into how preparation, testing and exercising, via an incident management tool, can assist in identifying and managing a variety of situations that create, threat, harm or risk to your people organisation and critical assets. You can save time, react quicker and become more organised when following procedure, and attendees will better understand how changes to workflows may impact your existing response plans.

“Incident response is not just a matter of security, it involves many stakeholders and has multiple potential ramifications to consider,” Johnson said. “To successfully protect our reputation, finances and critical assets, testing and exercising provides opportunity for key resources to practice and hone rarely called upon skills that may prove critical in the event of an incident.”

Incident response applications can provide testing and exercising out of the box, giving the potential for teams to train and prepare on the same system that they intend to use in the event of an incident occurring, he added. A good platform can cater to a broad range of predetermined playbooks and scenario-based testing.
