Palo Alto Networks Launches Cybersecurity Consulting Group

Cybersecurity and cloud technology firm Palo Alto Networks has launched a new cybersecurity consulting and threat intelligence group, geared toward helping enterprises respond to emerging threats.

The endeavor combines the company’s long-running Unit 42 threat research team with Crypsis cybersecurity consultants, who respond to more than 1,300 cybersecurity incidents a year, to create an expanded Unit 42 division that tackles complex cyberthreats, from ransomware to state-sponsored espionage

“Our increasing reliance on technology has turned cybersecurity into an existential matter,” said Unit 42 leader Wendi Whitmore, SVP of cyber consulting and threat intelligence at Palo Alto Networks. “We wake up every day focused on collecting and analyzing the most up-to-date threat intelligence and applying our analysis to respond to cyberattacks.”

Unit 42 will introduce new proactive services that closely complement Palo Alto Networks product offerings, and will expand incident response services to more countries in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. Since its founding in 2014, Unit 42 has produced more than 650 reports and is a regular partner with governments around the globe.

“The evolving threat landscape has made it imperative for organizations to have access to up-to-date threat intelligence on emerging threats, as well as support from experts with deep experience responding to breaches,” said Chris Kissel, research director for security and trust products at IDC.
