IBM Security CTO to Detail ‘Zero Trust’ Concept at HITS Spring

If you’re following a strict “zero trust” security policy or philosophy, you know who and what you can put your faith in: nobody and nothing at all.

Whether or not that’s achievable (or practical) is up for debate. And that’s those are the questions Jeff Crume, distinguished engineer, CTO of the Americas for IBM Security, and an IBM master inventor, will tackle May 12 when he takes the main stage at the annual Hollywood Innovation and Transformation Summit (HITS) Spring event.

“While zero trust has recently become top of mind for many organizations, the roots of this concept go back nearly two decades. To those who have been watching this space, it feels like the world just discovered something that already existed,” Crume said. “As with all good ideas, zero trust carries certain inherent costs and limitations. Striking the right balance between high-minded principles and real-world pragmatism is the real challenge.”

Crume’s presentation — “ Securing Everything: An Introduction to Zero Trust” — will look at the principles that underlie the zero trust philosophy, and provide context of the origins of the approach, and how it evolved to become the top concern for organizations it is today.
