SHIFT Panel to Explore ‘Anti-Piracy Now and Later’ at Dec. 8 CPS

At the Dec. 8 virtual Content Protection Summit Eric Wynalek, VP of strategic initiatives for SHIFT, will lead a panel discussion covering at least three crucial topics for the industry: what were the biggest piracy challenges of 2020, what legislation has impacted the industry the most, and what will content protection look like in 2021 and beyond?

“We’d like attendees to come away with an understanding of what this year has meant for legal and illegal content consumption and what the long term impacts will be,” Wynalek said of the panel discussion “Anti-Piracy Now and Later.” “Some post-COVID consumption and piracy trends are new, but other trends are emerging behaviors that have been merely exacerbated.”

The panel — featuring Andy Chatterley, CEO of MUSO and Olga Kornienko, co-founder and COO of EZDRM —will dig into pre- and post-pandemic consumption data, how and what viewers are consuming via both legal and illicit services, and offer takeaways on what to do with all the data. Current legislation and government action and its piracy consumption impact, along with a discussion around the behaviors that will (and won’t) survive the potential end of the current COVID media climate, will also be on the agenda.

“The session will give attendees new data to consider, applications of that data that provide macro-level events additional context, and some ways to bring this info into daily decision making,” Wynalek said.

Presented by Microsoft Azure, the event is sponsored by SHIFT, Genpact, Akamai, Convergent Risks, Friend MTS, GeoGuard, PacketFabric, Palo Alto Networks, Richey May Technology Solutions, Splunk, Zixi, EIDR, the Trusted Partner Network and X capism Learning. The Content Protection Summit is produced by MESA, CDSA, the Hollywood IT Society (HITS) and Women in Technology Hollywood (WiTH), under the direction of the CDSA Board of Directors and content advisors representing Amazon Studios, Adobe, Paramount, BBC Studios, NBCUniversal, Lionsgate, WarnerMedia, Amblin Entertainment, Legendary Pictures, and Lego Group.
