SHIFT to Examine COVID’s Impact on Content Protection at Oct. 20 M&E Day

It’s no secret that content consumption exploded following the onset of pandemic-related stay-at-home orders, with content owners, streaming services, content delivery networks, and everyone else in the supply chain working overtime to meet the demand.

For streaming security specialist SHIFT, the past six-plus months have also seen data emerge that show new security scenarios and piracy impacts that everyone in the industry needs to keep in mind now.

Eric Wynalek, VP of strategic initiatives for SHIFT will share what his company has uncovered on that front during the breakout session “Content Protection in 2020: What We’ve Learned in the Post-COVID Streaming World,” being held during the Oct. 20 Media & Entertainment Day, a live, worldwide virtual event, taking place during the all-new NAB Show New York digital experience.

“The goal is for attendees to get a sense of the piracy landscape, a chance to review examples of companies successfully protecting their IP, and actionable takeaways for them to consider when looking at protecting their own business and IP,” Wynalek said of his upcoming presentation.

He’ll review both the issues and solutions content distributors (across all industries and geographies) encountered during COVID-19, and review usage data to offer ideas around proactive piracy mitigation strategies and trends to consider going forward.

M&E Day is sponsored by IBM Security, Microsoft Azure, SHIFT, Akamai, Cartesian, Chesapeake Systems, ContentArmor, Convergent Risks, Digital Nirvana, edgescan, EIDR, ICVR, PK, Richey May Technology Solutions, STEGA and Synamedia, and is being produced by MESA, in cooperation with NAB Show New York, and in association with the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) and the Hollywood IT Society (HITS).
