Just how big a problem cybercrime is today and how much worse it can get in 2018 will be a topic of conversation at the upcoming Cyber Security & Content Protection Summit at the NAB Show in Las Vegas on April 8.
In the presentation “How to Avoid Making Cybersecurity News in 2018,” Chris Taylor, founder and principle consultant of security services firm Taksati Consulting, will offer not only a look at the biggest data breaches of the past twelve months and an overview of relevant cybersecurity statistics, but will share tips on how companies can prevent similar breaches from happening to them.
“This will give the audience an idea how big of problem cybercrime is and where some of the trends are going in 2018,” Taylor said. “We will then go through just a few of the bigger breaches from 2017 that made national headlines. We will look at the type of data that was stolen, how the bad guys pulled it off, and then what security controls a company should implement in order to keep the same kind of incident from happening to them.”
“Ultimately, the focus is on the top security controls that every organization should employ, using these examples to highlight why each control is important and what it accomplishes.”
The half-day, inaugural event will provide technology and business updates on cybersecurity and anti-piracy initiatives in both film and television, and is being produced by the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) and the Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA), in cooperation with the NAB Show.
The 2018 Cyber Security & Content Protection Summit event will address the unique content protection needs of TV broadcasters, with sessions on protecting major live event broadcasts, the latest broadcast cybersecurity and vendor systems, software and services, protecting journalists in the field, the current state of broadcast signal intrusion, and more. Other topics to be tackled include the auditing of third-party vendors, securing cloud production, turning pirates into paying customers, hardening workflows, and protecting against ransomware.
Microsoft Azure, Dolby, NAGRA and Convergent Risk are sponsoring the event, which is produced by MESA in cooperation with the NAB Show. For more information, visit mesalliance.org/conferences/cdsa-nab-2018, or to register click here.
