IBM, Lastline Partner on Advanced Malware Protection Offering (CDSA)

Advanced network-based malware protection firm Lastline. has been selected by IBM Security to power its suite of network protection solutions and the IBM X-Force Exchange collaborative threat intelligence platform.

Lastline delivers detection of advanced malware that is engineered to defeat enterprise security tools and compromise corporate networks. IBM joins a community of Lastline security solution partners that leverage a solution recognized by NSS Labs as the top security effectiveness performer in its 2016 Breach Detection Group Test.

“Advanced malware detection is an essential element of effective enterprise security, and Lastline’s malware protection technology is uniquely capable of detecting today’s sophisticated malware attacks and providing the visibility security teams need to efficiently and completely protect against data breaches,” said Brian Laing, Lastline’s VP of products and business development. “We are excited that we can provide IBM customers with unparalleled malware protection to help them prevent costly and damaging data breaches and improve the efficiency of security teams.”

IBM is integrating Lastline’s advanced malware analysis and the Global Threat Intelligence Network into its suite of network protection solutions. The Lastline platform integration will provide behavioral insights into local threats, including zero-day attacks, enabling X-Force Exchange customers to identify and defend against all forms of evasive malware, regardless of how it is introduced to their network. The Threat Intelligence Network shares the latest global updates on malicious files and their associated behaviors to all customers automatically, accelerating the ability to respond to emerging threats.

Cybercriminals have demonstrated their ability to evade detection by traditional enterprise security solutions and analysts are recommending improved malware detection capabilities.

“Security and risk pros increasingly trust automated malware analysis providers to act as their highest fidelity alert, trusting them beyond other security technology,” wrote Forrester analysts, Jeff Pollard and Kelley Mak in a recent report. “These technologies have shifted from possible to necessary investments in a security stack designed to prevent the known and detect the unknown.”*

“Breach Detection Systems are one of the most rapidly evolving security technologies out there today,” said Vikram Phatak, CEO of NSS Labs. “Lastline’s collaboration with IBM is a positive effort for organizations that want to deploy advanced malware protection to improve their security posture.”

Lastline products see through evasion techniques, and are widely acknowledged as the industry’s most effective advanced threat detection and breach protection solutions as evaluated by third-party testing agencies. In the NSS Labs 2016 Breach Detection Group Test, Lastline received a perfect detection rate of 100 percent in all test categories with zero false positives. And the 2016 Forrester Wave report recognized Lastline as providing the strongest automated malware analysis solution in the market.

The Lastline technology integration is available immediately for all IBM X-Force Exchange customers.
