CDSA Launches European Content Advisory Committee

By Chris Tribbey

The Content Delivery & Security Association (CDSA) and the Media & Entertainment Services Alliance (MESA) Europe have teamed up to launch a European Content Advisory Committee, with the goal of facilitating better information exchange among content security professionals throughout Europe.

The initial, top area of focus will for the new group will be local development of the CDSA Content Protection & Security Certification Program, which already calls Europe its No. 1 audit territory.

“With active participation from all major Hollywood studios and independents either as board members or content advisors, CDSA is actively working to create an effective, collaborative worldwide network of content security professionals,” said Richard Atkinson, CDSA chairman and corporate senior director of global piracy conversion for Adobe Systems. “We anticipate increased collaboration and communications between the U.S. and Europe with the development of CDSA’s first European Content Advisory Committee.”

The CDSA European Committee will kick off with invitation-only lunch May 24, being held prior to the MESA Europe “Content Security Workshop” event in London. BBC, Disney, ITV, NBC Universal, Sky, Sony Pictures, Virgin Media, Warner and the Sports Rights Owners Coalition are among those on the docket for the event, with more content owners and distributors expected.

In other news, MESA Europe is also launching a Content Security Council, offering a collaborative platform for members with a security focus, to interact on a regular basis with the CDSA European Committee. The new MESA Europe group will meet quarterly.
