Joe Daniel - CivolutionJoe Daniel

Joe is a Sr. Solutions Architect at Civolution since joining the company in 2011. Joe is based in Burbank where he works with studios and broadcasters to protect high-value video content using Civolution’s NexGuard forensic watermarking products for both streaming and file-based workflows.

Joe earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and has lived in Southern California since graduation. Joe started his career at LSI Logic in Irvine doing ASIC design, then moved into the digital video and entertainment industry as a Sr. Applications Engineer at DivX in San Diego. After a successful IPO at DivX four years later, Joe eventually joined Civolution in Burbank to work on video content protection, watermarking, and OTT streaming. Civolution customers include film studios, TV broadcasters, and other content protection partners.

With over 20 years of experience in the media and entertainment industry, Mark Nakano has worked in nearly the entire media life cycle (production, post-production, distribution, security). For the past 10 years, Mark has worked in the security field. Mark has deep knowledge in conditional access, DRM and watermarking.

Mark has recently joined Civolution as the Senior Director of Product Marketing and Partnerships, where one of his responsibilities is to interface with the Hollywood studios and keep them abreast of the latest developments in Civolution’s NexGuard forensic watermarking product.

Mark earned both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Mark is one of the original engineers that launched the DIRECTV service and is also a third generation Los Angeleno.

Dmitry Primachenko currently serves as Senior Vice President at Deluxe Media where he focuses on business development and technology aspects of implementing workflow driven systems that revolve around high security content.

Dmitry joined Deluxe in 2003, when Deluxe acquired MediaVu – a platform designed, developed and deployed under Dmitry’s leadership. While at Deluxe, he created and led the team that established several groundbreaking solutions for the entertainment and advertising industries that enabled the secure digital transfer of film and advertising assets. These solutions have become industry standard and continue their expansion into other fields.

Prior to joining Deluxe, Dmitry worked on system design and implementation for several Fortune 500 companies. Those systems encompassed ecommerce solutions, enterprise and media platforms, as well as complex supply chain productions.

Experienced technology leader, Cyril spent the last fifteen years of his career around the globe, in major multinational Entertainment and Media companies such as Turner Broadcasting System, part of Time Warner Inc. and The ABC Cable Networks Group, part of The Walt Disney Co, driving efforts in emerging technologies to radically change the digital content workflow as well as the consumer entertainment experience across devices and platforms.

Cyril is known for his broad and extensive expertise in digital distribution efforts from proof of concept to product deployment, focused on authenticated experiences for VOD and live streaming across digital online properties as well as content technical and security standards.

More recently, Cyril joined Turner’s Information Security Office in Atlanta. GA, where he has been overlooking policies and standards around digital secure distribution and anti-piracy related effort, while working within Turner’s Global Technology Office on various TV Everywhere related efforts, helping defining strategy and operational deployment from Transmission to Consuming device for both VOD and Simulcasting.

Cyril is also the co-author of two TV Everywhere related specifications, published over the last two years, under the hospices of the Open Authentication Technology Committee (OATC.us)

Matt Thomas is the Head of Sales for MediaSilo, a secure video sharing platform that supports more than 100,000 media creators around the globe, from companies including Viacom, BBC, Hulu, Vice and Amazon Studios. Previously, he managed corporate accounts at Signiant and worked in production and development on various film and TV projects. Matt holds a Bachelors in Business Administration, with a minor in Cinema Television, from the University of Southern California.

Joel Sloss

For the last 20 years, Joel has been on the razor’s edge of enterprise IT and security. He originally joined Microsoft in 1997 after having served as a Technical Editor for Windows NT Magazine, where he authored more than 100 articles and product reviews, contributed to several books, and annoyed many hardware and software vendors. While at Microsoft, Joel has managed product lines ranging from BackOffice to ISA Server, mobile services, and—most recently—compliance initiatives in the Azure engineering team. Also during this time, Joel wrote numerous whitepapers on security and compliance topics such as data protection, network security, secure management, architecture fundamentals, and policies and processes, among others. His focus now is on the Digital Media & Entertainment industry, its compliance objectives (such as security certifications including the CDSA CPS standard), and privacy needs in the public cloud.
